Feed a dog and he’ll love you. Reminds me of the joke the great George Jessel told. Arguing with his sister about her wastrel boy friend, the sister declares that he is so good that dogs chase after him and lick his hands. Jessel replies, well if he’d wipe his hands after eating a meal that wouldn’t happen.

Had an idea of performing “A Fellow Needs a Girl” with my wife and one of the dogs. I would do all the singing, about how a man needs a woman to listen to him, believe in him, etc. On the final line, “My kind of girl is you,” I’d pick up the dog.
