Out in the real world where you get to choose the people you supervise and clock out at 5 instead of staying up until all hours correcting work and setting out specific plans for the next day and where your “vacations” are spent planning what you will do when you get back to the office? That real world?
Teachers in CA are paid ONLY for the days they work. All the time off, summer, Christmas, etc. is without pay! That is not vacation. Many teachers need summer jobs to make ends meet. And the $80,000 teacher mentioned above got that salary by taking many extra college classes and working many years. Beginning teachers do not come close to making that much. And, so what if he saved his sick days, other jobs allow that and you can cash them out. How about picking on bad CEO’s for a while?
Teachers have a tough row to hoe. Discipline rules in the schools have gone by the liberal wayside. Parenting has fallen apart due to both corporate greed causing both parents to work and Liberal social systems destruction of the the two parent families. So unless you are lucky and work in a upper middle class school or a Catholic school, you end up with children that are half starved and are getting no help from home, and you can’t even discipline them anymore. So to flatly blame teachers is wrong, you have to look at the whole picture.
The teacher’s union chief is a caricature of Karen Lewis, who is the union representative in Chicago, who has had run-ins with that tea party wingnut Rahm Emanuel who had the outrageous right-wing idea that Chicago teachers shouldn’t have the shortest working day in the country. Madness.
Are there any decent non-biased media outlets that report verified and valid events without party spin in any direction? I’m looking for something that reports positive facts, events and accomplishments without negative opinions which are critical of opponents. I want to read about ability, accomplishments and experience rather than name-calling, crying about what somebody else did wrong and ridiculing everyone else.
