You'll catch your death of cold lying on that ground...
And when you do...
I'm not going to feel sorry for you!
Arlo: Wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard that!
No, but you can get a deathly chill, at least around here. I dug some turf out to create better drainage away from the house at a downspout Friday; the ground was still frozen 1" down.
When I was nine I was visiting my granny while moving to Florida, and rode the Pender County school bus in NC. One day I thought it’d be neat to hang my head out the bus window all the way home. The next day I had the earache from HELL in the ear that’d been blown in.Fast forward about ten years. My mom, dad, and I rode the Bee Line Ferry across Tampa Bay from St. Petersburg to Manatee County. It was the Fourth of July. The next day I had the earache from HELL in the ear that had caught the prevailing wind. So I, at least, can get earaches from wind. I also IMHO believe I have come down with colds after getting cold. I know, a viruses or bacteria caused the sniffles-type cold, but maybe the temperature-type cold lowered my resistance. (I could be wrong.)
I have heard that women marry their dads, although I’d be hard pressed to prove that with any of the women in my family, either my sisters or my sisters-in-law, or my niece.

it’s a scientific fact that cold viruses propagate on well maintained lawns. they mate with the mold spores.
