    He already had a batting average – .000 is hardly respectable, but it was nonetheless his average. So… if Eno has had more than 2000 at-bats lifetime and his batting average came to less than .0005, would statisticians round down to .000 or be generous and round up? And which average would you rather have – .000, which could simply mean that you’ve had only a couple of at-bats and have yet to get a hit, or .001, which means that you’ve had at least 667 at-bats with only a single hit?
