Joke aside, this actually happens if you’re not careful. Never just pour a fish from its travel bag into a new tank. The temperature shock can kill it. Always float the bag in the tank for 10-15 minutes so the temperatures will gradually adjust and then open the bag.
Goldfish can withstand this kind of shock better than other kinds of tropical fish, but it’s never good for them.
