“Won’t run off?” What does that mean? Does she mean it won’t turn off? Is this an idiom used in some areas of the U.S., are is it another example of poor translation?
It often seems to be a double-translation problem, but other times the language is correct for the period. “Nix!” (from the German “nicht”, not) appears frequently here.
