I didn’t realize Spongebob’s hometown was such a big place.

Skinny dipping with a bikini bottom on is not skinny dipping.

I’m being followed by a moon shadow, and if I ever lose my bikini I won’t moan and beg…

Kudos to riotta rigotta, and David B’s comment is right on, but I’m at a loss to see what a home town has to do with any of this.

I’m not sure where the pineapple came from, but I know that Sandy Cheeks is the result of sitting on the sand as soon as you come out of the water.

Well, let’s see, you’re dipping in your skin; so, yes.

Spongebob’s home town is called Bikini Bottom.

And David B., she wasn’t skinny dipping with a bikini bottom. She was wearing a full bikini and the man convinced her to skinny dip. So she was taking off her bikini in the water. As she did, she dropped her bikini bottom.

She dropped her bikini bottom trying to get a better grip on her pineapple.

And in the sans bikini bottom pineapple was a very krusty crab. Plankton was just an innocent bystander and Patrick was a " northern parts " cover piece".

Thanks for the explanation random commenters. I expect to see this comic on comicsidontunderstand.com in the next day or two. There are some ways I have matured that just make me even more depressed: I can’t stand rewatching even my old favorite cartoons like ren & stimpy, beavis and butthead, animaniacs, thundercats, etc. Thank god I haven’t outgrown comic strips.

There is so much about this gag that is confusing, even if you watch spongebob. Skinny dipping is something you do when you’re young, looking fabulous. If you do swim naked, it isn’t something you do after you get in the water: it’s a hormonal, spur of the moment, heck yes kind of thing to do on a hot night, often after drinking; much like striping and running naked around a blazing fire.
