People eat turtle, so why not turtle eggs? Turtle used to be pretty common in the US, both as a delicacy (I think it was Teddy Roosevelt that loved it) and a “poor southerners” dish. (anything from the swamps!)
Oh, I almost forgot, now that my squirrels are nice and fat (off my peaches), I’m gonna be eating some of them soon too! Put their little heads on tiny pikes to remind the other squirrels to lay off my peaches!
