    You know very well that that isn’t how history works, oldie. This generation of immigrants is relatively isolated, the next is in both worlds, and the grandchildren usually rebel against the obsolete values of the grandparents, even if they keep some of the traditions. The new infusion of cultures will keep Europe coming up with new ideas.

    oldie, just how many Muslims do you know? I know quite a few (roomed with one in college). What you say, “They don’t blend they demand separatism” simply isn’t true for a large percentage of them.

    On the other hand, Hasidic Jews live a fairly separate life, as do the Amish and Hutterites. Chinatown in NYC is largely Chinese (surprise!). There will always be those who blend into the prevailing culture and those who create their own enclaves. Same with Muslims.
