I’m part of three generations of ballet-lesson takers. They do give the taker a boost, and they’re much less messy and expensive than ponies. Reality weeds out a high percentage of us, and we generally don’t grow up posting 100 photos a week of our ballet lessons on Facebook, as the horse lovers do.
Pay for monthly classes then leotard, tights, shoes. Later pay for end-of-end show programme booklet, ad in booklet (if you’d like too), costume & footwear for end-of-season show, tee-shirt for end-of-season show; it adds up.
My idea of ballet when I was little was exactly like Alice’s (frame 3) , but it turned out I sucked big time. Suspect Alice might, too. Tomboys tend to not make the best ballerinas.

I went when I was four, don’t think it was expensive.

Alice, if you go that route, you are bound for disappointment! After the scarf-waving runs and snacks, it becomes a very dark form of torture….

She’s in for a big disappointment. They don’t have man hole covers there.
