I love how AIG “has to give huge bonuses” right now, despite being bailed out by the tax payers.

Now, if they were failing so badly that the government has to keep giving them billions of dollars, just why is it they are obligated to give those running the company any bonus at all?

Rog, agreed. I’d be more inclined to give them nice big prison sentences for screwing over so many people – not really all that different from Madoff.

Exactly! It’s like they are robbing a bank in front of the entire police department but no one is stopping them, in fact, it’s like some of the police are picking up dropped money and handing it back to the robbers!

Obama should use the bully pulpit. Go on television,name the executives who are getting bonuses and say how much they are getting. Shame them (if possible). Challenge them to go out and get another job if they are so valuable.

By all means, audit the banks and CEO’s and those far up enough on the food chain that some fraud could be going on. It could be a “Why daddy went to jail” situation, when it is sorted out.

I saw on french-canadian TV (TVA, our “FOX”, sort of) that AIG is using its latest bailout to give bonuses to CEOs so Obama wants to cancel it.
