I was thinking the same thing. Awesome to see a ‘new’ strip from this era!

At least we ASSUME its pot, and not dangerous tobacco!

And lo, three shepherds from Colorado. We know those aren’t cigarettes because we all know those are lethal, while pot has no harmful properties at all.

I was wondering why everyone assumed they were smoking pot? Anyone who smoked pot back then (I’m not saying I did or didn’t) knows you only lit one ‘J’ at a time and passed it around, having 2 lit at once would only be a waste as you hold in each toke as long as possible and with three people one of two joints would have essentially been wasted. The size of the objects in question makes it very hard to tell if the are tailor-made or roll-your-owns. Using Occam’s razor I would guess that they are off smoking cigarettes rather than toking up.They may have had Prince Albert in a can…

I don’t think tobacco has quite the same side effects as pot. If it did, there would be a lot more people still into cigarettes. Doesn’t tobacco actually make you more alert, if anything?
