Computer: We blocked a pop-up on this website!
Computer: Do you want to allow pop-ups from this website? Once? Always?
Computer: You can customize your pop-up settings in Control Panel!
I was so bugged by all the pop-ups and ads that started playing sound, I went to TopHat Aviator as my browser. You do not get pop-ups nor do any video ads start unless you click on it.
Luv, luv, LUV the notices that “YOUR COMPUTER IS UNPROTECTED!” now that our McAfee has expired. My better (tech) half doesn’t seem to be worried about it, so guess I won’t be either.
Oh, I also luv the ad that comes on here and shoves everything to the right until I click “Close.”
Maybe today’s strip is boring to some, but it hit home for me.
IE and I are again separated, due to IE’s latest “security infidelity” and I do not plan on reconciling with it again. And yes, my current browser of choice is much better about not letting annoying pop-up ads into the house.
OK, I’ll talk real slow; Arlo is frustrated because his pop-up blocker is sending repeated pop-ups. This is what we call “funny”.It’s also funny that read a strip you “usually” find boring; if you don’t like it, go read Nancy or Family Circus or something, & leave Mr. Johnson’s brilliance to those of us who can get it.

This amuses me, as the gocomics website itself is loaded with pop-ups.

Yes, sometimes it’s enough to make one want to move in to a small cabin and start writing a manifesto.

Chrome here (also outside the US) – no popups.

Adblockplus is the answer.

Using Firefox with AdblockPlus works, but going Pro helps the most.
Right now my subscription is messed up…. they somehow didn’t credit my payment due to an ill-timed change in my card number…
and I can’t believe how much I hate the set up without it.

Opera browser is the most innovative. With the Ghostery add-on, in the Ubuntu operating system, the aggravation is nearly zero.

“OR WILL WE?”

The best thing to get rid of the ads isn’t just ad block, it’s re-routing calls to Double Click (owned by Google) to Home.
