Because hubby has gone grey – and bald – he frequently gets a senior discount without asking. I have to show my drivers license – and I’m older than he is! I don’t know whether to be pleased or annoyed.
I use to ask for ID when someone would write a check and I always got a dirty look from the check writer – especially when they’d point out that all their information was printed on their check. But one day i came up with the perfect answer and pointed out that if someone stole their checkbook they’d want me to use the information on the check instead of checking their ID, and suddenly it was a matter of security against theft instead of meaningless inconvenience. No one ever complained about showing me their ID after I pointed that out.

Agatha Christie remarked that being married to an archeologist was an advantage: the older you get, the more he is interested in you.
