Will someone explain the significance of the tipped over glass in front of Cap’n Eddie? Whether at the diner or the bar, often times a glass in laying on its side.
An empty on its side is most often a hint to the waiter or counterperson or bartender (depending on the establishment and local custom) that it is, after all, empty, and is in need of replenishment. Or as we often observed with beer bottles in that condition, “another dead Marine”…
Science-wise, of course, the glasses make way too small a lens to gather so much heat. But you may have missed this: the sun angle is way too high for a winter ice scene.
In Australia the tipped over glass means you dont want a refill. As opposed to the overturned glass which means you wish to take on all comers in a fight.
This is only applicable if your sitting at a bar.
Could we get this one framed for the sake of those readers who can’t decide whether Joe or Capt. Eddie is sitting at the corner of the counter? They both are!
Now if we knew where the cash register keeps going…
Ummm…. I don’t think that would really work. What’s his prescription anyway? A bit of a take-off on frying ants with a magnifying glass? The most dangerous catch indeed!

How long did he have to wait for the sun to come out? And how far north is he, anyway?

What stories could Pauly tell if he could talk?

If only someone could teach that cat to squawk like a parrot, saying, “What a load o’ crap! What a load o’ crap!”

I think Pauly is just a weird growth on Capn’ Eddie’s shoulder.

That’s a down-eastern cat. All it’d say is “a-yup”.

palos: It isn’t a tipped over glass, it’s an empty plastic creamer container.

@benbrilling, not to mention that often there’s overcast or clouds when it snows, so the sun would not be out at all…
