Went to my high school reunion last year(50th) and found I had lost about 25 of my classmates and strange at it may seem, none were lost to the war in Vietnam and more than half were female members of my class. Although I didn’t have a close relationship with some of these class members, I find that in my mind and heart they are dearly missed. I can still recall something they did or something they said that set them apart in my memory.
I see so many many so much younger than me and think I’d better get my affairs in order as we never know when our tie is as the Bible says we are given a specific time to be born and a time to die, but we just don’t know when.
This is hitting way too close to home. The first thing I do in the morning is read the obits. When I don’t see my name, I know it’s going to be a good day!
Our HS class has a website, where you can create and maintain a profile, etc. After I checks the obits, I usually visit the class site and see if there are any changes noted on the home page. As of this morning, 67 are gone out of 864 in our class. Although there are frequent notes regarding a passing, most of these are for a parent of a classmate. Today would be my father’s 95th birthday. He was 73 when he left us.

As long as I keep spoiling everyone’s death pool I’m happy.

Sad but true. I don’t go back anymore. It was a bummer 15 years ago when last I visited there. Without the people, it’s just another place.
