    Maybe the (wingless, 8-legged) creature carrying the stretcher is the killer — hint: spiders have 8 legs and are wingless. All the others have 6 legs and wings.

    It was turning into a long day. The desk had put me on the window beat. And the bodies were stacking up; losers, sick of beating their heads against an invisible wall. I’d seen their kind before. Dried out husks of what they once were and all they might have been. It wasn’t pretty. And it didn’t look like it was going to get any better. But it was only the beginning.
