Clayton: Why are you so happy? Adam: 'Cause summer's here! Grilling! Swimming! Clayton: Well, summer doesn't really begin u;ntil June 21st. Adam: Is that what they teach you in school? Summer isn't something that happens on a calendar. It happens in here, in your heart. Clayton: I'm just saying, technically. It's still spring. Adam: Pssh. Tell it to my heart, this tub of sunscreen, and my freshly flip-flopped feet.

I’m hoping summer starts by June 21. It’s been an odd weather year. It’s only 53 outside at the moment.

Here in Florida, it’s summer when the dew point is high enough to make going outside unbearable. Blech.

I figure the calendar’s summer is marked by what happens outside earth’s atmosphere; the summer that counts happens down here on the surface.

I thought summer started during the last full week of April, marked by the Flora-Bama Interstate Mullet Toss.

For us Memorial Day Weekend was when we opened the pool, no matter weather or school status. We also had a party on Labor Day and that ended summer for us. Not that we did not do something before and after but that was our Official Summer Time.

I live a little north-west of Los Angeles. It’s almost June and I still need an electric blanket because night-time temperatures are still in the low to mid ‘50s. And no, I’m not in the mountains, the elevation here is about 175 feet.
