Girl: We have the may fly...and then the june bug...and then...? Why does it stop there? Frazz: Why do you suppose? Girl: Hmm. At the request of July? Frazz: I'm guessing the taxonomist was encouraged to find another line of work and it wasn't P.R.
Growing up back in the late fifties we would catch June bugs (the big shiny green ones) and tie a string to one of their legs. Weâd fly them like a kite. Until of course there was the eventual leg separation from its body. FYI June bug legs donât fly worth a darn.

Maybe its because Mayflies come in June and June bugs come in July. Two strikes and youâre out . . .

Makes me wonder â in the Southern Hemisphere would they be called November flies and December bugs?

Beautiful artwork and coloring today! The Sunday strips are always so lovely. In addition to the beautiful bugs, even the wall is pleasing.

puggles: My dictionary defines June bugs as âthe May beetleâ, which is probably why they first show up in April.
