This is a very kind tribute. Today is the anniversary of Charles Schulz death on Feb 12. The last Peanuts strip ran on Feb 13, so perhaps tomorrow might be another tribute strip?
You guys have said it all - there DEFINITELY should be a spew alert in panel 2, though. A VERY fitting tribute to a fellow cartoonist. My only question is, did Jim draw Snoopy, or lift it? I HOPE he drew Snoopy, because that’s VERY well done!
I hope he lifted it, because the reason we aren’t stuck with a cruddy remake of Peanuts now is that Schulz’s family had the decency to not sell off his creation and have somebody else doing it, like has been done with many other strips over the years.
Until i scrolled through the comments i didn’t get the tribute reference. Thank you for the explanation. Otherwise i think it could have been funnier if he had heathcliff or hobbes on his shirt… other black and orange felines.
That’s the second time I’ve seen Snoopy in “Garfield”!
Back when Schulz (1922-2000) was still alive, he gave Davis permisson to put the dog in a strip of this cat 14 November 1988 (Garfield sees Snoopy as his reflection in a mirror say that “It’s going to be one of those Mondays”).
If any on the board make it to Santa Rosa,Ca.
check out the “Peanuts” Museum and
Schulz’s Redwood Empire skating rink next door.
It’s well worth the trip…

Ironically, it’s the most wearable piece in his wardrobe.

Wouldn’t that green tie clash?

Odd that the company that did his first TV special in 1982 was the same one that did specials for “Peanuts” and “Cathy”.

Either way, Bravo Davis.

Regarding the tribute A+. However, the real reason Jon hasn’t worn that shirt before is because it makes him look pregnant!
