I usually wait until after the first of the month to look because I’m so bad at remembering to flip the danged page. But today I get to say, “Owl!”
My office calendar is the one the American Museum of Natural History sends out with a great animal picture each month.
After Yukoneric’s comment, I guess I should say it’s a Saw whet owl, not a Snowy owl though like Snowys, it’s a winter visitor from points north to Indiana.
(now if I could figure out why HTML doesn’t work in posts for me so I could bold names and stuff…. I’ve used view source to look at it and I use it right, it just gets stripped away)
I have about 30 calendars in my classroom (along with some framed Doozie sketches). I get a student to turn the pages every day. Some math puzzles, some comics, some sayings - something new every day!
This year the calendar next to my computer is by The Economist. It has great cartoon drawings of the events past and present that happen or happened during this month. So there are lots of things to check out.

I always wait until the first of each month to check out the next picture and I hate it when somebody ruins it for me. LOL

I have The Economist calendar, too. Created by KAL. Really great.

And I think “mathmaverick” can be seen on You Tube at “Tom Gammill Lesson Fifteen”. Check out his amazing performance as the angry math teacher.

That’s me. And his daughter’s a much better math student than that!

The Pirelli calendar this year is … NSFW, but most of the models look like little girls and not women. Does that mean I’m getting too old?
