Well, Connie, that’s One way to deal with the problem. A better way would be to learn how to be yourself without a "boy"friend. I know it is difficult for a woman’s heart to let go of an (one-sided) important relationship, but with a little effort you can rise above it. It won’t happen all at once, but when it does, you will be proud of yourself for acting like an adult… ;)
Having Connie and Lawrence move away was a big decision. Connie was a regular character — Elly’s best friend, in fact. In losing these two familiar faces, I would have to rethink the dynamics of the neighbourhood, and create a new group of friends. I did this because I was juggling too many characters. I felt my work was getting stale and I needed a challenge.
Maybe I’m wrong, but I thought “boomers” went up to 1964. Still would mean X’ers were of marriageable age. Most of the X’ers I know were into the anti-feminist, stay-at-home mom thing — probably in rebellion toward their feminist mothers — there is a song “Daughters of Feminists” and the ending line is “they just want to stick it to mom.”

Selling your house to avoid an old boyfriend seems a bit extreme. Irrational too.

It’s funny that Lynn moved Connie & Lawrence away because she thought there were too many characters. She replaced them with a family of four……

I can understand Connie wanting to move and get a fresh start.

Just make sure when you do bump into him. You are with some other, nicer guy X keep your home!

Instead of selling her house and moving, she could just grow a backbone.

I didn’t approve of the move when I first read it and I don’t approve of it now
