What I will do this summer...
Boy: I will finish a 5k...bucket of ice cream! Frazz: You realize 5 kilograms is like 1 1/3 gallons. Boy: Oh. Then gelato or something else metric.
Ice cream is half air, so 5 kg would take up anywhere from 2 gal (Edy’s or Dreyer’s Grand) to 2.5 gal (“slow churned” or cheap generics). Denser premium brands or gelato might take up as little as 1.5 gal. A 5 kg bucket that takes up only 1.33 gal would probably taste like frozen butter.
Okay, summer is a third over, so are we going to keep on with the “what I will do this summer” for the rest of the season instead of showing what they actually DO during the summer.
If an ice cream plant smells anything like a cheese plant, I can understand why he never eats ice cream. Once, when I was working for a company that sold food products, I had to stop on my delivery route and pick up some cheese from a plant in Pittsburgh. The smell inside the plant was overpowering, to say the least.

Or, he is wanting an unspecified quantity of ice cream at 5° Kelvin, which would be too hard to bite and cause instant frostbite of the entire mouth.
