I understand Jim has an obligation to continue to age his characters until Skeezix hits 100 himself . Then the cast will “freeze” in time wherever they are at until GA ends whenever or if ever it does. I can’t understand why Jim has not focused more on the younger generation like Chip’s kids or Rover’s kids. Too much on Slim, Clovia, Joel and Rufus.

This gives a little info about each from the various countries and an entry when they die. Not too many left. Henry Allingham of the UK died last year at 113.

I’m no expert on the history of GA and the characters, but I think there was a strip this past Christmas or New Year’s that also put Walt’s age at 110.
Yeah, Christmas, I think! Something about an elf asking Santa if there was a typo on the “good children” list: “This Walt Wallet, Santa - Should he be 1999 instead of 1899?”
I think I had the age figured wrong (too low) in some recent discussion about how long Gertie has been working for them.
Finally, this is the strip I’ve been waiting for. With the death of Jack Babcock last week, Frank Buckles and Walt Wallet are the only WWI veterans alive.
Buckles is still very active, by the way. Just a month or two ago he was lobbying in Washington for a new WWI memorial.
According to the Gerentology Research Group, there are only two men left on earth who are documented to have been born in the 1800s. One is Walter Richardson, an American in Montana. The other is in Japan. So Walt, from 1899, is in a rather exclusive group.
By the way, there are over a dozen women worldwide who were born in the 1800’s. They just seem to live longer.

Perhaps Walt was in espionage, performing various impossible missions he chose to accept, and his actions are still disavowed by the Secretary.
