It’s a wonder Burl didn’t take a full HALF of the cake. He’d see it as his ‘right’ since he had to miss all the ‘fun’ of attending Marlene’s BD party . . .
And Joy thinks nothing is wrong with her precious Burl taking that much cake. After all they paid for it (altho it is a day or 6 old) so he is justified. They are so self-centered. But the worst is Marlene and Dale inviting them. Surely they can find someone else to be friends with. Anyone else!
Burl. Gotta love him.Found an International Rocky Mountain Oyster Cookbook from the Junior League of Denver, 1931. Here’s two yummy recipes: South Carolina Balls ‘n’ Grits, and Marseille Bulliabaisse. Can’t wait to get into the kitchen.Susan, don’t you have this book, I’m sure Leaky does.
Actually Burl’s math was pretty spot-on: 1/4 of the cake has “left the building” leaving 1/4 for each of the remaining three!!So you could hardly call him “that big pig” with complete aplomb!! Unless ya want to………….

Burl had to take a slice. Do you really think that between Joy, Marlene, Dale and perhaps Verl and Jerry there’d be even a crumb left for Burl?

And he had to cut out that whole section…otherwise he would have left evidence of having taken the biggest roses.
In this photo Joy took when she brought the cake home, you can see the misspelling that made it half price, even before the day-old markdown.
Not that Joy noticed… she only saw the price.

Now, now. She made a real effort. It ain’t easy to peel off the second and third price reduction stickers.

I love Cake Wrecks … but I can’t say I follow it with any great regularity.Perhaps I should!
I used the part of the cake that’s in the strip to build on…. didn’t change what Julie drew of it… just added to it.
If you look at the panel magnified, you can tell that there’s no way the letter before the “D” is an “H” ..it’s an “R” or part of a “T”.
So it must have said “Birday” or “Birtday” .. whether intentional on Julie’s part or not.
Mikie…. I don’t think so… but I do have a lot of funny old cookbooks… someplace.Do you hear from Leaky?
