senor, it’s never a good idea to believe everything politicians say in campaigns – and a lot of people put words into Obama’s mouth that he didn’t say, expectations that were never appropriate. Once they get into office, they always hit brick walls that force them to curtail their ideas. Of course, Democrats almost never give their leaders any backing because they are chicken – once Republicans start their inevitable tirades, Democrats turn tail and run.
I don’t particularly buy the idea that Obama had words put in his mouth. He had commercials saying “Yes We Can” and would list off tons of things that he can do. I remember one of them said “We can fix the economy, save the environment, create jobs” so on and so on. The theme of his campaign was “Bush did it all wrong and I can fix it”. He can’t act surprised that people would hold him to it.
it’s “Yes WE Can!” WE as in the whole country working together. with just 60 senators it’s a lot of heavy lifting, not to mention the dead weight of 40 no no’s.
HOW – The reason I keep repeating the truth is because you don’t want to hear the truth and would rather not reply, but just make deep, helpful, comments like: “There you go blaming everything on Bush!”
Sorry but there are many of us who feel if someone screws up they should get the blame, especially when they get people killed, and cause millions to lose their jobs.
If anything goes wrong now you say it’s Obama’s fault because he is in charge. Bush was in charge for 8 years, so should we just forget him and what he did?
Drc: I didn’t misinterpret. When you put on a commercial saying “we can do this, we can do that” it means “Elect me and all these things will happen”. There’s no other point in putting that up as a commercial. It wasn’t a general message about unity, it was an election sales pitch.
Do you actually believe he put those commercials up as motivational speeches just for fun, with altruistic messages about teamwork? They were election commercials and campaign promises.
He set the expectations way too high, only got away with it because people were really mad at Bush, there’s no crying about it now that people are expecting results.
I’ve only watched a few of his speeches recently and each of them have included some knock about, 8 years this, or 8 years that. It’s almost sickening. Recognize there is a problem and work together to fix it.
He’s doing some of that, too - healthcare, jobs etc - but the other side prefers to do nothing and blame him for not having done enough. Mind you, he’s not the first president to blame his predecessors - it’s not exactly rare behavior.

It’s an old trick, but it works everytime – get people angry and/or scared and they will do stupid things like vote for Republicans.
I am sure that it would have taken Reagan, Bush Sr., or Bush Jr. only a year to strighten all of this out.
It takes more then one year to fix what it took 8 years to break, especially when the people who broke it are fighting you all of the way.

When he has commercials saying “Yes we can” it means “Yes HE can”. Otherwise, why elect him?

So LORAX, are you gonna tell me there is an “I” in team as well?

From a view, it appears as though Obama doesnt want to take a stand, resorting to problem accusing of “last eight years”.
