A lot of artists die with a ton of material in the vault. Much of it is there because the artist did not think it was good enough to release. But the greedy record companies release it after their death. Some of it is actually good but some of it can be real dreck that might harm the artist’s posthumous reputation.

One of the great songs of all time, Otis Redding’s “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay,” was released posthumously.
