    Americans who asked “Why are we hated?” after 9/11 were mostly posing a rhetorical question. (They didn’t want to hear any answer that didn’t have a pro-US spin…)

    It’s a biblical, sins of the fathers visited upon the generations, thing. Chaos at the border is blow-back from the banana republic wars. The middle-east is more about oil acquisition, & climate is from its use.

    RE – “why they hate us”: I recall Obama’s pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright giving a sermon in 2003, about chickens coming home to roost and Obama catching holy hell from the Right… because the guy told the dam’d truth. Google his words, they’re powerful still.
