Sounds like my mother-in-law. Whenever you talk to her you get told the same story (in the one session) on average 3 times. I try to avoid contact at all times.
And then the spouse tells you what you did wrong. And then the spouse tells you what she did wrong. And then the spouse tells you what you did wrong. Later the spouse will tell you what you did wrong. But, you try not to listen.
You need to tell the same story a number of times to get it right..A friend of my son’s said, “Your dad sure knows a lot of stories. Does he EVER repeat one?”.“YES, yes he DOES.”.On the upside, I can now begin a story and John Eric can finish it for me, often better than the original. LIFE IS GOOD

It’s a wonder she doesn’t get allergic to Earl.

Earl is obviously allergic to her…after all, she is the cause him to get hearing-aids.

And like you not being able to take pot shots at Earl all the time.

Because my husband has short-term memory issues due to his epilepsy, he frequently tells the same story over and over.

Be happy that loved ones are still able to tell stories, even old ones, over & over, nobody wants to become senile, life is no fun for those affected.

I took allergy pills for years because I wanted the rescue cat we adopted. I loved him very much and still miss him :~)Sweetest kitty ever.
