Non Sequitur by Wiley Miller for February 14, 2010

Transcript:
Bernie: <Music>. Phil: Bah! <Music>. Bernie: A-hem... <Music>. Phil: I still say you should trim your nostrils, Bernie... Bernie: And risk losing my title as king of the nose-whistle? Never! Bernie and Phil's Golden Age sonata...
I’ve been trying for a long time to get them to enlarge the cartoons (not just mine, but all of them). The enlargement application is due to the complaints by me and some other cartoonists, like Mark Tatulli, but it’s still not adequate in opinion, as it’s not big enough and not clear.
On January 31, 2010, Wiley responded:
Thank you, celecca, but it’s just 10 years with Universal and Uclick. On Feb. 16th, it will be 18 years of Non Sequitur.
On February 3, 2010, Wiley informed us:
Non Sequitur is made available to newspapers in both the strip format and panel format. Unfortunately, we have no control over how small they print the cartoons. All too many newspapers print cartoons in the panel dimension far below the minimum standard size. This not only shows a lack of respect for the art form (which helps keep them in business more than any other aspect of the newspaper), it also shows a lack of respect for their readers.
But if you don’t let them know you’re upset about this, how will they know? They equate silence by the readers as acceptance.
Yes, I sent them a suggestion because I thought those things would be beneficial and I had difficulty finding information on flagging and etiquette. I had already sent a request for that info but would like to see it available for all.
Well now that I have started flagging people I choose to flag people where not only is there post offensive but it is obvious that they intended to offend. And I don’t understand why some of the messages disappear (in general) and others that I consider more offensive are left behind. I guess I am missing something. (Not just my messages.)
I’m not sure as I don’t know the posts that you are talking about.
I don’t seem to come across that many offensive posts. But I also stay away from political strips. They can get pretty heated at times.
Any suggestions? I’m going to have to be around less for the next couple of weeks, but would like to know where to check in to let others know it is okay. (Wiley might not appreciate us using his comments)

I can’t do that, but when I blow my nose it sounds a lot like a freighter leaving port…

To reprise a gag from NYPD Blue, was it the weasel that got popped, or was the weasel popping the monkey?
Joseph Krois almost 15 years ago
I always thought it was a deviated septum that created “la dolce musica”. That’s it, I’m tossing my nose hair trimmer!

LuvH8–Are you saying you contacted Gocomics?
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Yes, I sent them a suggestion because I thought those things would be beneficial and I had difficulty finding information on flagging and etiquette. I had already sent a request for that info but would like to see it available for all.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Also I thought it would be a nice way to tell Wiley thanks for all he does for us. I think he goes way beyond what would be expected of him.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
I guess you have a point there. I never attempted to find out what the guidelines were on certain things such as flagging.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
For me to flag someone, it has to be a very offensive post or picture.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Do you think the message is too much? Should I tone it down? Where is everyone today?
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Maybe split your messages into more than one post sometimes.
Who are you talking about when you say where is everyone today?
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Well now that I have started flagging people I choose to flag people where not only is there post offensive but it is obvious that they intended to offend. And I don’t understand why some of the messages disappear (in general) and others that I consider more offensive are left behind. I guess I am missing something. (Not just my messages.)

Check out the circus. Also is Bunnyface okay?

COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
The circus is “the circus”. What can I say.
I think he is fine. I hope so.

Like your new avatar, that was quick. Please to talk to you, site suggestion?
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Myself and a couple of others were wondering/thinking about going to another toon strip here at Gocomics.

Any suggestions? I’m going to have to be around less for the next couple of weeks, but would like to know where to check in to let others know it is okay. (Wiley might not appreciate us using his comments)
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
We would pick one where they don’t have comments but maybe once in a while.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
You can always find me on Birdbrains. I post everyday there.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Hubert and Andy never have any comments there. That’s where I go to try pictures and stuff like that. :^)
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Okay, don’t want to miss an opportunity to be offensive anyway. Will at least comment their daily. See you around the strips.
