I remember when recliners had levers that made closing easy. But I guess that’s just too much to ask for these days. Not only do you have to kick the snot out of these footrests, but they fight back!
Actually the first recliner to come into my house didn’t have a lever or anything, you just pushed back and then pushed down with your legs to sit up again. If things got worn it wouldn’t stay down. The next recliner had a little brass knob that locked and unlocked the mechanism. When my mother moved into my home she brought her recliner which has a handle. My brother recently bought a new one which – I kid you not – has an electric motor to take you back and then up again.
