My mom simply told me that Santa’s sleigh was magic and stopped time while he was delivering toys. That explained how he got it done in time, and why you would never see him if you tried to spy on him. Nice and simple.
My favorite Christmas strip is from a ceased one called Monkey House. 9-year-old Sara is talking about staying up to catch Santa in the act. Her father, Bob, tells her that if she goes to bed and stays there, Santa will put her presents under the tree; if she doesn’t, Santa will just dump them some place and Bob will have to put them under the tree himself.
