I love all the choices on cable (and my TiVos) because I always watch what I want. Current bedtimes are old Pythons and Bewitched- cartoons in the morning online and happy TV at night ;-)
Unfortunately for Coco, I think the generation he appeals to is not the kind to sit around for the monologue/comedy bit/main guest/musical guest-standup act formula. Too much competition for that audience with media platforms that just didn’t exist when Carson perfected the art.
Leno and Letterman will be fine, as they can last for as long as the boomers are still relevant as an audience, but then network chat shows will be exhaused. Maybe something more like the Today Show format to catch people flipping past?
Stewart and Colbert are already doing the show that Conan should have been innovating by now.
