    I was surprised to discover that planes don’t fly in a straight line, across the Atlantic. They in fact take a curved route in the direction of the North-Pole, because that’s the shorter route…

    In Rockaway, NY all planes take a route right over your heads.

    I love travelling cross-Atlantic in the low season (Oct-Nov). You’re more likely to get the row to yourself and can attempt to lie down. Still can’t sleep very well, but more likely to catch a few minutes here and there.
