Dill: My brother saw a Martian in one of the upper tube slides. Alice: My brother is going to be a werewolf on Sunday. Dill: You win. Alice: Of course.
I’ve always loved that tube slide the kids have here - especially in the summer when the snow at the slide’s highest levels finally melts and the flood bursts forth at the bottom. Gets Dill ALL excited.
Twenty years from now, Dill will “win over” Alice by making sure he never wins “over Alice”. That’s part of his long-range strategy to marry her someday. Sometimes you got to lose to win.
