Am I the only one thinks McPherson might be aging himself? I haven’t seen a mercury thermometer for a few years, at least not one that people use…

I read somewhere that hatbands used to be treated in mercury, and the hatmakers would go nuts from handling them, and that is where we got the term “mad as a hatter.” I know that has nothing to do with the comic, but speaking of mercury made me think of it.
