Heart: Mom...do you think I'm ugly? Mom: What?! Of course not! I think you're beautiful! Heart: You have to say that because you're my mom! Mom: I don't either! But I do know that anyone who is thoughtful of others will always be beautiful inside! Heart: Isn't that the standard talking point to make ugly people feel better? Mom: No. I know lots of ugly people who are just as mean as the beautiful ones.

Darn tootin’. It’s not the beauty or lack of it that makes you mean. It’s how people have treated you throughout your life, and how you come to view others’ motivations.

Just what is it that beautiful people have easier? It facilitates becoming a famous, vapid, neurotic, self-consumed bag of anxiety. But if that’s easy, who wouldn’t choose hard. In the realms of real people doing real things, beauty is hardly on the radar, and if you’re not out there doing real things, putting your butt on the line, risking more than hurt feelings, you’re half dead anyway, so no worries about being beautiful. The undertaker will wax you up real nice when you’re done. .Beauty is often a horrible liability, making it difficult to know if it’s you or the beauty that appeals and , if it’s beauty, what happens when beauty fades?
