There seem to be no wrong answers in school anymore. “Not seventy” is just as correct as “sixty four”. I’ll bet he’s got great self esteem, too.

Opal missed a great teachable moment – math is the language of reality. (I think that’s why most people don’t like math…it doesn’t care about good intentions, and it won’t forgive a mistake – just like the universe.) Grandmothers will let you get away with a cute wise-guy play on words, but reality won’t. Wait’ll the kid has to balance a checkbook….

Wished I had been as smart as Nelson when I was his age. Math would have been a lot easier.
