I knew a kid like him from my childhood. His mom was a “lady of negotiable affection” that lived in a run-down house near my elementary school. The poor kid never knew where his next meal was coming from, or when his mom would come home from her “job” or “date.” He wreaked, from not having baths and he wore the same clothes day after day. Suddenly, one day he wasn’t at school and we didn’t see him again. His mom had moved out of the house to somewhere else. I was sorry that he wasn’t around anymore, but the mothers in the neighbourhood were glad they were gone. Bunch of self-righteous snobs. I’ll bet that they had something to do with it.
Sad on James. Place we lived long ago, there was a family no money for food, kids were hungry so I gave each child a sandwich they were starving back then. One older boy when much older did get in trouble with PD. My son said he was bad. Place I used to work at head counselor surprised knew of that boy then a teenager and now adult.

I fear James represents a very troubling reality.
