The answer Rose needs to say is, “No, I don’t trust your judgment, Avis.” Usually, Rose is painfully honest with Avis. But then we wouldn’t get any incite as to why Rose doubts Avis.
I’m not defending O.J. at all, but… he was arrested and put on trial. Either accept the verdict and move on, or continue to prosecute him—and persecute him—in your own mind. He’ll still be “free” either way.
I use quotation marks because of course he isn’t free: he’ll always be a pariah, a fallen idol, a punchline.
Don’t blame O.J. for his freedom, blame a prosecution team that was so assured that his guilt was “obvious” that they presented an incompetent case.
This crosses the line. Could have been a funny strip. Lots of people have been in situations where the chain of voucher for people has so many links it is quite suspect. We have the whole “We’re related! He’s my uncle’s wife’s brother’s cousin’s neighbor’s boss’s gardener’s son’s teacher from highchool” meme. But no, Detorie just had to throw an ex-celebrity and a large swath of the populace under the bus for a twitter of laughter. I wish the reruns would skip this one
