My dad was a rural letter carrier. There was a dog who chased his car every day, but one time it got too close and his paw got run over. A week or so later, he came out to chase the car, but when he saw it was Dad’s Volkswagen, he went up on his porch and held up his paw, just like Willie here.
We had a dog that just loved my husband. He had to work out of state for a few years and would come home as often as possible. She knew what his name was. When he would be coming home, and I knew he was in the garage, I would say, “Sally, where’s Chris?” She would get so excited and run to the door into the garage and would just whimper with excitement when he walked through. Really miss her, she was a sweetie.
When my wife & i were were first dating, her dog could tell when it was my car coming into the parking lot. He’d get to barking and wagging and when i rang the doorbell, she’d send him downstairs to greet me. Years later, he would start to react the moment i turned the corner on our street a block away; he knew the sound of my car. i really miss ol’ Panda!

My brother had a dog who’d get excited when he heard the word “walk” or “stick.”

We used to have to spell out “walk” around our dog… until he leant what w-a-l-k meant.
