Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat to debut at the Woodward Dream Cruise features a upercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine with 707 bhp. So what does that have to do with Fiat? It’s being built in North America. Though not the US, it’s right across the lake in Brampton Canada.
Back in ‘68 when all the MOPAR guys thought my Lotus was a Fiat 850, I made a LOT of money off them drag racing, which is NOT what the Lotus was designed for, but it was very quick. Newer cars, like the new Dodge, have ridiculous amounts of power for the straight line, but the still basically won’t turn.
MoParMitch: just spoke to a guy who has one of the newer ones, and yes, they’ve improved a LOT since the ’60’s. I still can’t figure though why you need over 700 horsepower on the street. (But Lambos, and Bugatti ARE cool, even if you can’t drive over 200 mph on the road.)

Only 707 HP?Worthless, if it’s less than 1000, with gas dripping out of the tailpipe as it sits next to me in traffic.
