Doesn’t get much “lower” than “Naked and Afraid”! (However, at least it Can be funny at times)… ;)

It was hard, but they created TV shows with less redeeming quality than Phil, Maury or Oprah.

My favorite shows have no commercials. I’ve mostly outgrown any desire to watch. If nothing on the tube suits me, I turn it off and watch the cat. The cat only manipulates me into giving her snacks. And the playful, mischievous antics of a cat are more laughable than anything on TV.

Did you guys see where the chick from “Naked and Dating” or something like that is suing the producers because *gasp they missed a frame when they where blurring out the naughty bits, so her watusi was shown on TV! I truly hope the judge dismisses quickly and orders her to pay all the court cost. If you are so shallow as to go on a show with such a tacky premise then you should not be surprised when your kibbles and bits are shown.

Sounds like television has really reached the gutter. The quality of the show denotes the quality of the audience. It has fallen a long way from Red Skelton and Mayberry. Is it any wonder the United States is no longer respected.

T.V. started it’s downhill spiral with shows like ‘Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous’ ; ‘Rescue 911’ ; and pseudo news and information shows like ‘Maury’ and ‘Morton Downy Jr.’ Wish there were a way to go back and erase that from the annuls of time.

Vance Packard, auhor of the classic expose on advertising, “The Hidden Persuadors” (1957) reported that some television commercials were taking swipes at parents. Winston cigarets (sic) was taking swipes at schoolteachers. For-profit TV began undermining morals and values since Day One because more money can be made with amoral behaviors.

And remember the early days of TV:If one channel had a special on, the other would too. This pitted mom against father which to watch and sometimes kids against parents. Only one chance to view. Then pulp the rest of the evening. This is why VCRs became popular when introduced.

One commercial I remember:Back when the ill effects of tobacco were being revealed:“-—- We’re tobacco men, NOT medicine men!!!!”

My Satellite TV link is more used for local news & weather. I catch some national news shows but I dislike people talking over each other. One of the better features is a large number of music only channels. The audio is great background for reading books.

I’ve watched only two reality shows. Dancing with the Stars when Emmitt Smith won. (Cowboys Fan). And the Wife Swapping one. My Daughter knew one of the Female Participants. It was enough to convince me never again. I don’t count the DIY stuff!!!

The only one I used to watch that I miss is Judge Wapner on “Peoples Court”..I got home from work one time and turned it on just as Wapner had rendered against the plaintiff and the plaintiff(a man) got real mad and said “You aint even a real judge..you can’t do that to me!” and started out from behind the railing..Wapner looked very nervous and quietly said to the bailiff “Rusty..restrain that man.”..Rusty just stood there perplexed..I laughed out loud at that one..
