Catching up with Bernie & Phil Boy: Howdy, neighbor dudes! Bernie: ? Phil: Uh...this is a retirement community, young man. Boy: I know! I just retired and moved in. Bernie: Wait...what? How did you manage to do that? Boy: A dotcom bought my app for ten billion dollars. Bernie: Wow! It must've been really successful. Boy: Actually, it never turned a profit. Bernie: Ah...so they're going to start charging more for it, eh? Boy: Naw...it's still free. See ya 'round, dudes! Bernie: That makes it official...I don't understand anything anymore. Phil: Dang...I was hoping I only hallucinated all of that.

I think he meant the dot com didnât turn a profit.Theyâre going to have to SELL a whole lottathingumadoodles at a hefty price to recoup the$10 mill the gave Dweebleigh, and if it keeps on being free, that will never happen. Unless they have a thingumadoodle of their own theycan sell at a hefty price, something absolutelyrequired without which Dâs app wonât work.

I donât understand anything anymore, but thatâs because of the bottomless stupidity I run into every day. I wanted to email this Wiley, but the Captcha visual is too quick and the audio miserably indistinct. Thanks anyway!

It occurs to me that a âretirement communityâ is defined by age, not work status.

So, now it is hard to ask, whatâs new. Maybe hallucinations are what is real.

The guy who sold the app and GOT PAID made a profit. The PAYOR did not see a profit.

Supposedly it would be about add revenue, but you have to remember the dotcom bust to realize that sometimes it is just about stupidity, and you want to make sure you are not the last one holding the bag.

Let me lay it out:
1. A big company invents a nifty app and starts selling it online for the usual price.
2. Someone else, usually a small timer, invents an even niftier app out of their basement and starts giving it away for free, which makes the other app appear lame and expensive.
3. The big company buys out the patent rights from the small timer, which is bully for him because that was his goal all along anyway. Small timer retires to his own island.
4.The big company announces a ânewâ upgraded version of their old app and charges its users for the pleasure. That or they require that space on the app be given away to advertisement or do a tie in where the user must register with their network in order to access its full content (Ex: YouTube.)
5. Big company execs retire to their own islands. You, meanwhile, now have to endure 25 seconds of Turbo Tax commercials in order to watch that video of the cat chasing the rubber mouse.

the secret [shhhhh] to retiring early, this couple at 45: no expensive bad habits, two mediocre (at least) incomes, NO KIDS, an earth friendly modest lifestyle, and save like the dickens all thru the earning years. the earth friendly part is optional. downside: the twilight years may end up lonely ones, esp after the first spouse dies. ps: we all die.

âCheck out the top and side banners and pop up ads here and theyâre all custom selected by where youâve been and where you live.âMebbe so, but they think I like Rascal Flatts? I know my husband doesnât, either. Heâs probably never heard of him, or them, or whatever it is.

Itâs not so bad not understanding anything. I find it easier to just nod and smile when anyone says or does anything. Iâm not going to tell them they donât get it either.

All currency is worthless by nature, the worth of the currency comes from the promise behind it.
