Big Nate by Lincoln Peirce for July 08, 1996
Transcript:
Nate: Oh, not AGAIN! This is one of my pet peeves! You're supposed to get a FORTUNE inside a piece of bubble gum, right? Well, THIS is not a fortune! This is just some lame SAYING, not a FORTUNE! A fortune is supposed to tell the FUTURE! Francis: Perhaps you HAVE no future! Teddy: "Speak less, listen more." It's not a fortune, but it IS appropriate!

Francis is right. every August, n8 goes to P.S. 38 as sixth graders. they leave school and enjoy summer vacation. then the process repeats.

He really believes in fortunes. Like remember in the first big nate novel where he spent all day trying to “surpass all others” because of a fortune cookie?
