At Walt’s age diet will not make much difference too late.
When my dad was 79 Dr.’s tried this on him reduce salt mom took it away and it was too late. Almost cost him then something else did.
TV dinners are great anyway.
Hopefully more GA family will show up.
mjsmagic, you are right about Phyllis’ death. It was covered well, and tastefully (in my opinion). I was mistaken in including her in the list of those that have passed on behind the scenes.
HectorPriam, if Adam is the only biological grandchild that has been written to have a child, I guess that makes Ada the only biological great-grandchild of Walt. I’m just trying to keep the family straight. I think all the kids in the Wallet Family Tree are great in their own individual way (well, Eve may have some issues that hopefully she has resolved).
I look forward to seeing more of the family and hopefully what’s being going on in the lives of the ones we haven’t seen lately (like Nubbin, Gretchen, and Gabriel).
When Walt passes, there should be a one panel Sunday showing every GA character Jim can squeeze in (and given the lamentable size of Sundays, he’ll have to draw awful small). As for Walt himself, he would awaken in a misty scene and gradually reveal that he looks the same as he did 80 years ago. He’d then hear a car horn and find Doc, Avery and Bill waiting for him behind the wheel of a 1920s touring car. They’d all drive him to his new home, saying “Phyllis is waiting dinner on you.”
My dad had a stroke when he was 72. Doctor put him on reduced salt. My dad stayed on it about a month and then went back to his salt. He passed away last year. 4 days shy of turning 106.
The strips which ran just after Phylis’ death revealed that Skeezix (Alison) was her nephew, the son of her sister, so that would make him a first cousin to his foster-brother Corky. The family discovered a series of letters which Phyllis had received from her sister.

Axe and Joe Doty, thanks for answering my question. It just seems that Joel was always a gent that looked like he was in his late 60’s. I can remember when I was a little kid and it was in the papers, I still couldn’t read that well yet, but enjoyed the pictures all the same. I remember Rufus looking younger, but Joel looks like he did years ago.

@ Kyle: Corky is more related than Skeezix, he was born to Walt & Phyllis. Skeezix and their sister Judy were foundlings.

I remember Slim and Clovia having a daughter Gretchen (or some other Germqan-sounding name). Whatever happened to her?

That actually brought a tear to my eye, Airboy. What a nice visual image.

If Jim brings the entire clan together, that may be a way to say goodbye to the whole GA clan and the strip.
