    I predict that Connie is the granddaughter, but that the two ladies will swindle her out of her inheritance anyway, and Connie will continue to pursue Ollie.

    I think there is a valid place for “gold-digging”. Consider Abishag (I Kings 1). Some criterion would be: 1) Prospect is truly old (Ollie doesn’t qualify) 2) Genuine fondness for the person (actual romance not necessary), so that you are a true comfort in his old age 3) Prospect is rich enough that you are provided for for life - even if you don’t find a romance with a younger partner (after your rich sugar daddy dies).
