Judging by the gasp of the audience it looked more like the speaker was relating to almost losing his house to a squirrel and how it was fought off.

Crows and Jays are right at the top for having the ability to reason things out. And, humans would be better off if they had the dedication to family that Crows have.

In point of fact, birds in this comic strip have been known to comment on the foibles of these weird heavy-brained creatures. (This was back when they boldly identified themselves as the descendants of dinosaurs.)
