I want an antidpressant that is that effective. They don’t make you happy, just numb to the debilitating sadness and the emptiness of your meaningless existence.

I’m suddenly reminded of the movie “Special”.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_%28film%29. A man participates in a clinical trial of an experimental antidepressant, which causes severe hallucinations and psychosis. He believes that he’s developed super-powers and decides to become a superhero.

Moondog is a mess. Monty needs to rescue him from these mad pharmaceutical trials before he is permanently disabled!

Yet for some, ADs are a life saver. Every person reacts differently to the various types out there. If you can find the right one for you it can bring amazing benefits to you and the people close to you.

That is not true, adverse effects (AE) are looked at with a lot of scrutiny. AEs are expected and experienced with all drugs and believe me they are looked at by all regulatory authorities. What’s looked at is the level of the AE compared to the problem the drug is supposed to help.

I don’t remember the whole list; but the late David Brenner once rattled off a whole list of side effects from an antidepressant to the audience at Letterman. When he got done, he cracked, “I’d be really depressed if I had all these; and it’s from the drug I’m taking so I’m not depressed!!”
