One of our Dutch posters last year mentioned something about the overhaul of the Dutch National Health Insurance a few years ago. Is this cartoon criticising their new set up? Or is it referring to the US? Edit: I read up on their new Insurance on wiki and it doesn’t quite fit the cartoon. For those who lump all European plans into one, via that wiki entry I found an interesting link, translated into English, on their Ministry of Health,Welfare & Sport website, subtitled in English too! I really struggled to speak in Dutch while living in the NL, they all spoke English to me. :p

But anyway, anyone from the Netherlands who can shed some light on this cartoon?

That looks like our “Enlightened One” driving the bus. Isn’t he the same one who made all the back room deals with the insurance and drug companies to get this health care going in the first place? Time to park the bus and move on to screw somthing else up.

Lately the rest of the world (Dr.Canuck included) has been laughing at the way we deal with things. The old jokes have been reformatted to include Americans instead of blondes. Here’s a sample:

An American went to a pizza place and ordered a pizza. When asked if he wants the pizza cut into six slices or twelve, the American replied, “Six please. I can’t eat twelve slices.”
